With the vast choices of foods that are have available and the many of which are classed as healthy if one wants to put the time into choosing them and doing a little bit of research about them, it is hard to believe that anyone could be classed as a picky eater. Most often it’s the little ones that fall into this category as children tend to be picky about what they eat.
There are a few ways of being able to get around this and one is by giving them choices but making sure that those choices fall into the healthy food options. Many times as parents what happens is that we tend to put our likes first and assume that the little ones are going to adapt to our tastes.
A good example of this is perhaps you have a love for broccoli and don’t care that much for carrots so you tend to encourage the kids to eat the broccoli. What you may want to do is test their tastes a little bit by giving them choices of up to five veggies to choose from, cooking them the way that you feel would be most appealing and let them decide on the three that suits them the best.
These are the ones that you can then focus on going forward when it comes to mealtime. Other foods that they don’t care for as much can be buried into foods that they do like. For example, adding a small amount of veggies that don’t really appeal to them to the spaghetti that they love may be a good compromise.
Allowing a child to adapt their tastes from healthy food choices will soon put an end to being a picky eating
